Neil and I had wanted to have a Lake George view, but didn't want to go up Buck Mountain yet again. As such, we took a look in my Adirondack hiking book and decided on Sleeping Beauty. Little did we know what a rewarding experience this one would be.

First of all, we were able to drive all the way into Site 5 (1.6 miles closer than the typical Hogsback parking area). After that, the hike itself was simple and straightforward. The ascent was moderate throughout and the trail is clearly defined all the way. Once atop, there was a 270-degree panorama including Shelving Rock, the bottom of the Tongues, and the midsection of Lake George. The peak itself is huge and allows for several groups to share it each with its own sense of privacy. All in all, this is my new favorite along the mountains on the Eastern shore of Lake George.
